Although it is not possible the exact origin point of the art form, many historians suggest that martial arts actually originated and became popular throughout China. Emperor Huang Di, who ruled around 4000 years ago, was himself a great wrestler. He made the learning of martial arts compulsory for his troop.

It is from here that the art form became so popular. However, almost all the different Asian regions have their own variety of martial arts and their own origin story. Take a look at the Indian story, which is another prominent place for the art form.
