Whether playing casually or professionally, badminton follows a certain procedure much like any other sport.
Warming up/Working out
Each session begins with a warmup, constituting of stretching exercises and light cardio activity. These loosen the body and charge up a person for the forthcoming match. Players can choose from a variety of exercises as there is no steadfast rule. You can run on the spot or jog around the court.
Stretching is a must
It is critical for the player to stretch their leg and arm muscles to avoid accidentally straining them during play. For this, you can use a skipping rope to get your heart pumping.
These can be overlooked easily but should not be. Your hand is the most crucial element in the game, so performing a few wrist movements is essential before playing. Another exercise that can be performed is the rotator cuff stretch. Ensure that your body is prepared for the strenuous game you’re going to be playing soon.
A few practice rounds
Players should also spend 10 minutes playing a few mock rounds with another to get a feel of the court. Practice your forehand and backhand strokes, smash shots and burst runs.
After you’ve completed these quick exercises, you will be ready to face your opponent. After the game, however, remember to cool down and get your heart rate back to normal. Skipping this can result in sore muscles and be harmful in the long run. Take deep breaths, stretch your body and end the session by lying down on the ground for two minutes.
